Cost of a Dental Emergency?

Getting quick dental help costs the same as regular tooth care. Check our home page for which insurances we take and or our financial page other ways to pay.

What Is a Dental Emergency?

Dental emergencies encompass urgent dental issues that demand immediate attention to halt bleeding, preserve a tooth, address a severe infection, or alleviate intense pain. Conditions such as severe infections or tooth abscesses can pose a risk to life, necessitating prompt contact with your dentist. In the event your dentist is unavailable, seek urgent care at the nearest medical facility.

If you experience any of the following situations, consider it a dental emergency and reach out to us without delay:

  • I've had a tooth knocked out.
  • My tooth has sustained chips or cracks.
  • Uncontrolled bleeding is occurring in my mouth.
  • I'm enduring extreme pain or encountering significant swelling in my gums, mouth, or jaw.
  • I have a toothache accompanied by swelling in my cheeks or face.
  • There's an injury to my jaw.
  • My teeth are exceptionally sensitive, and the sensitivity persists.
  • My tooth is loose or misaligned.

Managing Dental Emergencies at Home

What to do if a tooth is knocked out:

  • Handle the tooth by the crown, avoiding contact with the root.
  • Gently rinse the tooth with water, refraining from using soaps or chemicals, and avoid scrubbing.
  • If feasible, reinsert the tooth into the socket, holding it in place while gently biting down.
  • If unable to reinsert the tooth, store it in a container with milk.
  • Contact your dentist immediately—the quicker the response, the better the chance of successful reimplantation.

Dealing With a Loose but Attached Tooth:

For a loose or misaligned tooth, promptly contact your dentist to schedule an appointment. Attempt to reposition the tooth gently with your fingers, without applying excessive force. Follow any additional instructions provided by your dentist before your appointment.

Addressing a Chipped or Cracked Tooth:

If you experience a chipped or cracked tooth, reach out to your dentist without delay. Pain-free chipped teeth can often be smoothed or filled during a regular dental visit. A cracked tooth may indicate internal and external damage. If your tooth is cracked, follow these steps after contacting your dentist:

  • Rinse your mouth with warm water.
  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
  • Take acetaminophen (avoid aspirin) for pain relief.
  • Refrain from applying any pain medication, including Orajel, directly to the gums, as it may harm gum tissue.
